Oblivion Remastered updates a lot of in game systems while keeping many of the quirks of the original. One of those quirks seems to be weird bugs.
The Necromancer's Amulet is a powerful, unique item for magic builds. It reduces your strength and health in exchange for a lot more magicka and a bit more magicka recovery.
Oblivion Remastered was supposed to change things such that when you become Arch Mage by finishing the Mage's Guild questline, you are able to get access to the Necromancer's Amulet and Bloodworm Helm in the Arch Mage's Nightstand. This makes sense lore-wise cause you're now the boss so who would be able to keep you from using these items if you wish?
Unfortunately there seems to be a widespread bug across PC and consoles in which the Bloodworm Helm appears but not the Necromancer's Amulet thus making it impossible for you to get. This is the predicament I found myself in and as I like maxing out my mages, I went searching for a solution.
So there's a bunch of different possible ways to get the Necromancer Amulet:
So there are other ways to do it but I was just like eff it there has to be a better way, so I found one.
My solution is basically:
Normally I don't like doing things like this as it feels like cheating which ruins some of the fun but in this case I'm trying to fix a bug that prevented me from rightfully getting the item so I feel like it's okay.
To get the amulet via the console:
player.addItem 0007BE2B 1(0007BE2B is the Necromancer's Amulet's console id with level 25+ enchantments on it.)
This should place a Necromancer's Amulet in your inventory.
By default when you use a console command, your save is marked so that you can no longer get achievements.
I went with the Universal Achievement Unblocker from Nexus Mods and it seems to work fine.
Not everyone wants to use the console or install mods and that's okay - there are other glitchy ways to get the amulet and maybe Bethesda will release a patch that fixes the bug. But for those that just want to get the amulet and move on, this is what worked for me.
